This is Kid Cudi’s The Prayer. And actually the most accurate ‘If I die before I wake’ lyric usage. Why?

“Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep” is an old children’s prayer. Goes like this:

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep;
if I die before I wake,
I pray for God my soul to take.

The verse is also (maybe most famously) in Metallica’s Enter Sandman and in Megadeath’s Go To Hell.

I like it. I like it’s familiarity and it’s ancestry through all genres and contexts. I like what it means and how it flows lyrically. And most of all, I like that most people don’t realise why they recognise it.

We tweeted about this a little while ago, but just in case you missed it, and just because it’s unspeakably good, here is Will Smith’s ten-year-old daughter Willow singing her killer single Whip My Hair on the Ellen show. Damn girl.

Walking down Brick Lane the other day and spotted this (look, there’s me taking a picture):

Stood outside for a good 20 minutes debating whether to go in and ask if I could hire it for a gig/shoot/video/playing with. Thought better of it and Googled it when I got back to find out it’s a Maison Martin Margiela and worth about £5,300. But the GREAT thing is that they also have a blazer made from wigs for sale for £7,300 AND a top made from mirrorballs. Smashing.

I went to see Robyn last night, and stood in the front mash of every Swedish person in London.

She actually sang an unbearably brilliant version of Dancing Queen as an encore. It was amazing. There was a tiny part of me that expected to be issued a Malm CD rack and a plate of meatballs at the end too, just for the 360 Swedexperience. Man I love Scandos.

And yes, she was wearing four belts. Over brown leggings. With platform Timberlands.

Mini Fashion Fix:

This week it’s cold. So I’ll mostly be hunting down a knock off of this GIANT COBALT RUSSIAN HAT by Anna Sui.

Obsessions.

ASOS and Brick Lane are the sole dealers for my (bordering dangerous) jumpsuit obsession. How ASOS make such wonderful onesies for such oh-yes-that’s-just-about-affordable prices I will never know. And quite how Brick Lane’s vintage shops can charge quite so much for things they stole from the back of my Mum’s wardrobe circa 1979, I also will never guess.

And if you have our CD, you’ll see there are a couple of rather delicious examples of jumpsuity goodness. And I might warn you now, I’m about to have a tangent – but I found these BEAUTIFUL WEDGES for Loeffler Randall’s SS2011 (I KNOW, A WHOLE YEAR AWAY) that just happen to compliment a certain jumpsuit rather well. Shhlurrrppp.

Anyway, we were thrilled to see lovely Karmel and Sam from ASOS at the Cargo gig and if you haven’t seen their delicious blog have a butchers and see if you can find the little music post about us.

Some of you who follow us on Twitter might have seen that it was my birthday on Wednesday (yes, yes – it is the same as Prince Harry’s birthday) – thank you for your lovely happy birthday tweets you smashers.
