Singing in the rain…

How rubbish was the rain today? I was fooled by the sunny loveliness over the past week that it was “summer”…

However, undeterred, I marched outside clad in rain mac and hi-tops (an interesting combo, I’ll agree), to my singing lesson in Camden. It’s a new place that I’m trying, as I like to get as many different teachers to get the widest perspective on the voice. Today I was going to VoxBox, for a lesson in Speech Level Singing (SLS).

SLS singers include Stevie Wonder, Prince, Madonna… You get the picture. Check out Seth Riggs (SLS creator) and Brett Manning (has awesome DIY SLS CDs and stagey but helpful YouTube lessons with singers like Hayley Williams). It’s an incredible technique, that opens up tons of possibility and I came out my lesson all buzzing (and resonant, and speech-level…)

And I did a bit of this…
