Christmas Lights In My Trousers.

Chatter written by Rebecca

Happy new beard little Bimlets.

Hope you all had maximumly awesome and fun holidays. I’m sorry we couldn’t give you a Christmas treat. I wanted to film a live version of a new song from the album as a tasty teaser but the main problems were:

1. Tim left his piano in London

2. All pianos in local vicinity were passionately out of tune

3. We were too busy eating mince pies and recording new vox

But I continue to endeavor to delight you with yummie snippets at some point before the album is released. : )

It was a marathon.
Both Tim’s and my family live in the West Country, so I decided to house a temporary recording studio in the attic room Chez Mama and Papa Rosier, so we could carry on recording and wear paper christmas hats and hug the cat all at the same time. Everyone’s happy.

Now.

Today I remembered Efterklang. I’ve heard of Efterklang lots. But I have never given them lots of time to be listened to.

So I listened to them.

Then I found this…

And I fell in love with them.

Reminds me of school, when I first saw a crazy uppy-downy-inside-outy MC Escher picture. Also kind of reminds me of Yellow Submarine and Alice In Wonderland and other awesome, beautiful works of bizarre art.

And then i found this comment on the vid. Says it all. And then some:

“This song makes me feel like Christmas Lights are flickering on and off really fast in my trousers.”

Love to you birdies xxxxx

Perhaps premature.

Right. It’s Christmas. It’s official. Tonight, I’m putting up my 2-ft green plastic fire hazard from Woolworths (those were the days), covering it in glitter, and generally making an enforced jollity reign down upon my house.

Yay!

I cannot wait.

I love Christmas so much. I know it’s not cool. I should probably make smart comments about it being a nasty Americanized (note the “z”) over indulgence of the highest order. Complain about having to see my folks. But I don’t. I love it. There’s no other time that I will abide both Boney M and Cliff Richard, or be drunk at 12noon and still be socially acceptable infront of Grandpas. It’s serious.

Incidentally, I just spent an inordinate amount of time decorating the outside of my house with badass neon lights on this lovely thingy created by charity-wot-Bim-support, Shelter.

All I can do is leave you with this classic choon, and the good news that we are recording over the Christmas holidays like there’s no 2010 and we might be able to get some nice Christmassy posts/vids/sneaky peeks of the new album up on here for you to see.

Huge love.

xxxxx
