Bim are pop duo Rebecca Rosier and Denmark Davis.
The duet have carved their own sound into the pop landscape, balancing what true songwriters do best; wearing and sharing the personal and physical emotion of their words and sticking them fast with pop hooks. Top electro blogger EQ says: “The album isn’t your usual electro-pop fodder either, it’s mixed with shimmery ballads and real songs that warm the soul and touch the heart.” Instinct magazine agrees “it’s cinematic, emotional and, in a year of ballad-less albums, pushes beneath the surface”.
Their sound bridges gaps from piano duets to rock – inspired by Bjork to Deftones and back to Britney – all squeezed into a package that they make pop. Q Magazine add to the mix, “a little bit Saint Etienne, a little bit Massive Attack” while describing Bim as the magazine’s ‘Net Big Things’.
The duo released debut album Scatterheart in late 2010 (all written, performed and produced by Davis & Rosier), which received unsolicited press as one of Peter Robinson’s top five underground pop bands in NME and featured as Band of the Day in The Guardian. They gathered over 1 million hits on YouTube, sat between Mark Ronson and Faithless at no.6 in the iTunes electro chart, and shared bills with Yasmin and I Blame Coco.
There’s a slick DIY attitude about Bim. They’re unsigned, but you wouldn’t guess it. Behind the scenes are two of the most dedicated and hard working songwriters, performers, singers, producers, directors, … , … , … , you’ll ever meet.
