Three Friends.

// February 28th, 2010 // No Comments » // Uncategorized

I don’t know why it’s taken the world so long to create a social networking love-nest thats primary focus is dressing women up in lovely clothes. It’s like Facebook made small, excellently dressed babies with Nylon. Dreamy.

Like with all social networking thingies, it has a “look how many friends I gotz” column. Mine says three. An unearthly social networking thingy took hold of my psyche and made me feel inadequate to the point that until I felt I was somewhere closer to the front of the “look how many friends I gotz” popularity race, I could not rest. I still have three. Ah, social inadequacy.

So today I spent an hour dressing ladies and trying to make friends with other window-shoppers at Looklet. Here are my creations. And the best thing is that the goodies you dress your mannequin up with are all for sale online. I know.

Epic Post.

// February 22nd, 2010 // No Comments » // Fashion, Inspiration, Live Music, Music

I’m afraid I’m about to deposit an absolute heap of information on you. This morning, it started off as a two-point post. Then I found something else that simply MUST go in this blog. Then another. And then another. : )

Here goes.

1. FESTIVAL HUNT.
Bim are on the look out for festivals to slide around in and play our music at this year. If you know of a particularly awesome festival that we should play, throw it in the comments box and we’ll get on it.

2. & 3. ANIMALS
Remeber that post I did with the guinea-pig hairslide? Reid Peppard, the 23-year-old fine art graduate with an appetite for taxidermy had a proper, good, English, down to earth chat to Vice about making accessories out of stuff her cat brings in.
Wings and stuff

In other animal news, Topshop have gone all Red Riding Hood for their new collection. Aw, man. I wish I had a fox to put on my head.
Grr.

4. CHARITY SINGLE. Only, kind of, not annoying and full of chumps.
I’m talking Imogen Heap’s improvised charity single for Great Ormond Street that she credits the audience for creating with her.
Imogen does it better

I get that tingly feeling about improvised stuff. It’s exciting. Especially so if it’s Imogen Heap who’s pumping extraordinary ethereal sounds. There’s something very special about collaboration, art and chance. Explored very bravely and successfully here. Immi, I salute you. : )
It’s only £1 and it’s beautiful. Buy it!

Bim gig #1!

That’s all folks.

Bimlets! How I’ve missed you.

I’ve been beating off the remains of an unyielding cold with an echinacea/eucalyptus-covered broom. First gig with the Shiny New Bim line-up tomorrow night and I will not be made croaky by some lame germs*. In your face, germs.

Some things have stood in the background and gone “yeah, take that” at the germs while I’ve been beating them with said broom. They may not have been contributing to the germ-beating directly, but MAN have they helped along the way.

They are:

1. Watching people fight on Trisha Goddard. Why? Nobody knows, but Trisha and her angry minions have the keys to relieve people of their snot.

2. The new Massive Attack album, Heligoland, naughtily streamed on YouTube but stimulating, beautiful little films are also available in exchange for a tweet at the (inventively named) Tweatre. It’s quite divine, and the sound is mostly depthy, spacious and stirring – just as you’d desire. Yummy.

3. Watching a full-on, balls to the wall, flat-peaked-cap rude boy help to walk an old lady across the road. It really happens. Amazing.

If you’re coming to the gig tomorrow, come and say hello : ) xxx

*Dear Germs, please hold off making me croaky for a few days. Many thanks, Rebs. x
