Some of those that work forces, are the same that burn crosses

Bimmies!
High five to the 500,000 peeps who bought Rage Against The Machine, we royally rocked out last night when it was announced that they were Christmas number one. Kudos also to Joe from the X-Factor(y). Feel a bit sorry for his golden moment being stomped all over by over-excited, nostalgic 20-somethings.

More rocking out ensued at band practice, with brand new sexy line up and marginally unsexy, dodgy PA system. We’re planning to do some seriously gnarly electro-acoustic gigs in 2010. We’ll be ready to book very soon, just email if you’d like us to play at your venue : )

Then right on the opposite see-saw scale of “gnarly electro-acoustic”, we played at a party on Saturday night in Chesham, in a little venue that also doubles as a cafe, restaurant and art gallery. It’s called The Drawing Room and it’s a beautiful place filled with charming people. Go there if you can.

The weather Gods decided to challenge our journey home with enormous snowfall. So instead, we went out for midnight sledging with the staff and slept in a snowy pile at the venue.

On a completely different tack, I just saw a preview of a film that’s going to be shown on the front page of Myspace and YouTube on Christmas Day. It sounds trite, but it’s actually amazingly eye-opening. The narrative is by Speech Debelle, and no matter what you might think of her, it’s beautiful and poetic. It’s called The Teens’ Speech, and is supported by the charity Barnardo’s. I recommend you have a watch.

Talking of Christmas, Tim and I are taking all the Bim recording equipment to the countryside and locking ourselves away for some serious album-assembling. We’re both wiggling with excitement and can’t wait to get this album to you, but we want it to be as good as we can possibly make it, so patience, little Bimmies, patience.

Love to you all, happy Christmas!

Ps – I’m trying to organise a little Christmas treat for you on Christmas Day, so come back to see if I’ve managed to work it out…

Perhaps premature.

Right. It’s Christmas. It’s official. Tonight, I’m putting up my 2-ft green plastic fire hazard from Woolworths (those were the days), covering it in glitter, and generally making an enforced jollity reign down upon my house.

Yay!

I cannot wait.

I love Christmas so much. I know it’s not cool. I should probably make smart comments about it being a nasty Americanized (note the “z”) over indulgence of the highest order. Complain about having to see my folks. But I don’t. I love it. There’s no other time that I will abide both Boney M and Cliff Richard, or be drunk at 12noon and still be socially acceptable infront of Grandpas. It’s serious.

Incidentally, I just spent an inordinate amount of time decorating the outside of my house with badass neon lights on this lovely thingy created by charity-wot-Bim-support, Shelter.

All I can do is leave you with this classic choon, and the good news that we are recording over the Christmas holidays like there’s no 2010 and we might be able to get some nice Christmassy posts/vids/sneaky peeks of the new album up on here for you to see.

Huge love.
