Bim the Band!

// March 14th, 2009 // 6 Comments » // Live Music, Music

It finally happened last night…

Since Bim was released yonks ago, we’ve been searching for a way to play our tunes live. The trial and error method meant spending a long time messing with backingtracks, PA systems equipped for screamy rock bands, various musicians and learning how to use a mic when you can’t hear what’s coming out of your mouth.

So when it clicked last night with our wonderful line up: Tim on keys, Adam on bass, Ellie on vox/synths and (finally, an amazing drummer!) Dave, we had those smiles that make your cheeks ache.

So excited : )

This photo may or may not have been utterly posed... : )

Hob Nox Audio Sequencer

So going on from the silly (although fun) drum machine that I posted earlier this week – this online audio app is CRAZY GOOD! Hook up synths and effects just like you would in Reason. Can’t help but think this is a sneak peek into the future of computer applications.

The only problem is when my computer can start composing better than I can! :s

Vocals, Dresses, and Dancing…

// March 10th, 2009 // 5 Comments » // Music

Busy busy busyyy day!

But a good one : ) I’ve just logged on after a recording sesh, putting down vocals for a song (that doesn’t have a name yet) for our new album (also as yet untitled). It’s so exciting seeing it emerge, and daydreaming about the artwork, the themes in the songs, and gigging our new songs with a full band and wonderful, wonderful dresses…

But back in the real world, I have been working very hard on an article about the choreographer, Hofesh Shechter, who caused a hoo-ha earlier in the year with his show in the Roundhouse in Camden… You might recognise his work from the opening of Series Two of Skins. He’s worth having a peep at.

Go!

She’s not just a pretty face…

Nor is she just our backing vocalist, nor just a Royal College of Music scholar…

Ellie came over tonight to practise and decided synths were her calling in life : )

Go Ellieeeee!

To Chop, or Not To Chop…

// March 8th, 2009 // No Comments » // Fashion

Right. I’m officially jealous.

There’s something about female singers and their coiffure. There’s Amy’s Beehive, Roux’s Flick, Natasha’s Fringe, and Tahita’s Undercut… The list goes on.
So here’s your mission, blog-followers, should you choose to accept it…

Step 1) Find me a beautiful quirky hairstyle

Step 2) See it on my head : )

Answers on a postcard…
